MISSION CRITICAL: PERSEUS

Commanders!
Welcome to the new Mission Critical series, involving challenging and dangerous Armored Warfare missions, available in Player versus Environment mode!
scr1

MISSION: PERSEUS

  • Available Difficulty: Medium, Hard
  • Mission Overseer: Hana Burić
  • Mission Summary: The National Patriot Activist Army plans on stealing our missiles to target the capital city. Defend each silo until reinforcements arrive!
  • Maximum Duration: 15 minutes
  • Location: Eastern Europe
  • Time of Day: Afternoon
  • Weather: Overcast
  • Opponent: National Patriot Activist Army
The National Patriot Activist Army (NPAA) is a faction that runs the length of the dusty and harsh terrain that forms the United States' border with Mexico. Its origins can be traced to the survivalist anti-government militias of the region, but its radical ideology has expanded all around the world ever since.

WALKTHROUGH

The mission takes place in the woodlands of Eastern Europe, which are littered with old Cold War-era bunkers and missile silos. The broken terrain, wet from recent rains, is as much an obstacle to successful mission completion as the enemy forces are. In addition to the mud, the area is covered by a mixed forest with large trees that provide cover from NPAA patrols.
scr2x2
A shallow river passes through the middle of the area. While it can be crossed rather easily, its banks, apart from the occasional boulder, are mostly bare of cover and vehicles traversing it are always at risk of being caught in enemy crossfire.
  • Primary Objectives: Defend Missile Silos (3x 3 minutes)
  • Secondary Objectives: Destroy Enemy Intel Trucks (10 minutes)
Black Company (a group of five player-controlled vehicles) starts on the eastern edge of the map. The primary goal of this mission is to capture three missile silos, located around the area, denying the NPAA access to weapons of mass destruction. Each silo has to be defended for three minutes against waves of enemy vehicles.
Defending Silo 1
Silo 1 is located on the eastern part of the map, a short way from the starting position. Cross the bridge at B8 to reach the position of the silo. Enemy forces will start arriving from the south-west and will be crossing the river in their attempts to stop you. While heavier vehicles can be positioned within the silo's defensive perimeter, lighter vehicles can oversee the area from near the starting position. But beware – if you are discovered, the enemy forces will surely turn their attention in your direction!
Defending Silo 2
Silo 2 is located further south from Silo 1 at G6. Enemy forces will continue to arrive from the south west as well as the south east (F8). Player forces can either move to the Silo 2 perimeter, or can successfully oversee the Silo 2 position from the E7 sector. Beware of being caught in crossfire while on the move, the opponents are merciless and will target exposed player vehicles with impunity.
scr4
Defending Silo 3
Silo 3 is located on the western edge of the map at D1. Upon securing Silo 2, players must quickly mop up any remaining opposition and move to intercept enemy forces arriving at Silo 3. Failing to do so will give the enemy the opportunity to ambush and harass Black Company from behind, while players are moving towards Silo 3. Enemies will be arriving primarily from the north (B1) and south (F1). They need to be taken care of quickly – otherwise they will easily overrun Silo 3 (especially on the Hard difficulty level).
Secondary Objectives
Three trucks carrying valuable NPAA intelligence are located at B4, E2 and H3. While the first two are relatively easy to reach with fast vehicles early on, to get to the last truck players have to get close to the area where enemies appear during the Silo 3 phase.
scr3
This is quite difficult (especially on the Hard difficulty level) and reaching the truck as early as possible is recommended.

MISSION OUTCOME

Mission success depends on completing all three primary objectives. Mission failure occurs if the opponents capture one of the silos or the entire player team is destroyed.
  • Mission Success: Black Company prevents the NPAA from capturing the missiles, earning a hefty bonus in the process
  • Mission Failure: Failure to defend the silos will result in a missile launch towards the country's capital city with Hana Burić ordering the city's evacuation
The Perseus mission is now available in Armored Warfare. We’ll see you on the battlefield!

MAY MARATHON UPDATE

Commanders!
We at My.com and Obsidian value listening to our community and event feedback is no exception. We have internally discussed your reactions to the May Marathon event and decided to introduce some changes.
scr1

OBJECTIVE CHANGES

The reward for the following Objective:
  • Win 150 missions in PvE mode on “Hard” difficulty with a Tier 7, 8 or 9 vehicle
was changed from 7 days of 25% boost to Credit and Reputation earnings to 7 days of 50% boost to Credit and Reputation earnings. Please note that the players, who already achieved this objective will receive the 50% boost as well as the earlier 25% boost.

BONUS WEEKEND

We do recognize that the objectives of the May Marathon event (just like during the previous April events) are difficult to complete and are aimed at hardcore players. In order for the majority of the community to be able to enjoy the event as well, we have added a Bonus Weekend event for all players as a part of the May Marathon.
From the 27th of May 9:00 CEST (EU), 00:01 PDT (NA) to the 30th of May 18:00 CEST (EU), 9:00 PDT (NA):
  • All players will receive a 400% (x5) bonus to Reputation income for the first victory of the day. This bonus can be obtained once per day for each vehicle
  • All players who play 20 games in PvP or PvE mode during the period will receive 2 days of 50% boostto Credit and Reputation earnings
The May Marathon player feedback was taken into account during the June event planning - we have several awesome events coming in June that we do hope you will enjoy!
Stay tuned and see you on the battlefield!

MAINTENANCE - HOTFIX 0.15.2152

On the 25th of May 2016, starting from 08:00 AM CEST (EU server) and 00:00 AM PDT (NA server), the Open Beta servers will not be available for four hours (until approximately 12:00 CEST - 04:00 AM PDT) due to the application of Update 0.15.2152, bringing corrections to some of the critical issues in Armored Warfare.
scr1

LIST OF UPDATE 0.15.2152 CHANGES

Daily Mission Changes
  • The "Concealed Killer" and "Stealth Kills" challenges were overly ambiguous. As a result, we've taken the Concealed Killer challenge out and revised Stealth Killer to count kills when you have not been spotted for at least 1 second before getting a kill
  • Based on player feedback, we've changed the challenge "Rolling Death" to be an AFV and LT only challenge
  • Reduced the difficulty of Medium and Hard challenges by 10%
  • Removed the challenge to destroy TDs until we actually add more Tank Destroyers in PvE for players to blow up
  • Removed the "Picking on Lower Tiers" challenge. After evaluating the challenge, we felt it promoted bad play and a poor gaming experience - especially for those at lower tiers
Miscellaneous Changes
  • Added a number of country flags
  • Improved the Merkava 2B lower frontal plate armor to be harder to penetrate when facing same-tiered vehicles
  • Corrected the issue where modules (especially guns) could be too easily damaged or destroyed by enemy fire
  • Added a weakspot to the Challenger 2 ATDU frontal armor. This weakspot is only penetrable by 140mm and 152mm Tier 10 guns
  • Adjusted the movement model of a number of Armored Fighting Vehicles
  • Fixed the issue where some Daily Challenge objectives could not be completed under certain circumstances
  • Fixed the issue where Wiesel 1 WOLF did not have the proper acceleration and maximum speed values
  • Fixed the issue where flag decals were incorrectly displayed
  • Fixed the issue where Tier 3 and Tier 4 vehicles incorrectly appeared as available in the mini-client
  • Fixed the issue where players could be kicked from replays for being AFK
Please note that the maintenance can be extended beyond the abovementioned timeframe. We apologize for the inconvenience.

DEVELOPER DIGEST - PT.2

Welcome to the second issue of the Developer Digest series. In this article you will find a summary of information directly from the developers, producers and community managers of Armored Warfare so you do not miss any crucial new piece of information!
scr1

QUESTIONS FOR DEVELOPERS

Is there anything new regarding the implementation of MLRS vehicles such as the M270 or GRAD?
There are currently no plans to introduce this class of vehicles. MLRS vehicles are cool, but they don't fit the current game concept. But this is not a final answer and it might change in the future.
Are there any plans to change the Dossier so that any player can see another player's statistics at any point?
No, displaying player statistics from the Dossier to the public will remain optional.
Do you have any plans to remove Friendly Fire altogether?
This is not planned for now. It plays an important role. First, it makes players think twice before they take any action (such as driving into crossfire). Secondly, it's easy to track. Yes, accidental friendly fire does happen, but disabling it will not magically remove toxic players. They will just find different ways to cause harm that are harder to track, such as blocking other players. Friendly fire helps us keep track of these toxic players and deal with them according to the rules.
Are there any plans to introduce such advanced technologies as EMP pulse that would for example disable the minimap?
That's an interesting idea. We'll keep it in mind when discussing additional mechanics for artillery for example.
Will it be possible to for example drive my tank around my Base?
That would be awesome, but unfortunately many Base objects are optimized for the specific camera angle the Base mode uses. To make these objects look good at close distances would take a long time and it's not something we are planning in the near future.
Are you planning to increase the overall shell velocity?
No, there are no plans to do that for now, but we are looking into increasing the velocity difference between various types of shells.
Are there any plans for more realistic shell ricochets?
That depends on what you have in mind. The shell models in arcade games (such as Armored Warfare) are intentionally simplified. In real life – at least in combat – it is quite difficult to predict the behavior of shells, much more difficult than in the game. A realistic ricochet model would introduce a level of randomness that we would not be comfortable with.
What about introducing realistic object destruction?
We are working on improving the object destruction model, but it's a complicated task and it will take some time.
Will AI opponents be able to fire ATGMs?
Yes, we are planning to rebalance this class as a whole.

ADDITIONAL DEVELOPER INFO

  • There are plans to rebalance the AFVs that do not traditionally serve as scouts (the BMP line and the Terminators), but the developers are not ready to disclose any details for now
  • There are plans for a mode where players will have more than one "life"
  • Update 0.16 will bring a shell normalization overhaul, which will fix a number of "strange" penetrations. MBT armor will be further evaluated after these changes take effect
  • There are currently no plans to allow players to remove the maps they do not want to play from their personal rotation
  • The developers are already working on improvements to the Lost Island map
  • Synthetic Oil consumable works by improving the internal "engine horsepower" value for the purposes of movement calculations. In the best case (for Synthetic Oil), this corresponds to a 10% increase to maximum speed and acceleration, but the increase values can also be lower depending on the type of terrain and the gear the vehicle is in. Overall, the Oil consumables help heavy vehicles accelerate faster on rough terrain, while the light vehicles (such as AFVs) can use the maximum speed increase on hard surfaces
  • The developers are planning to improve the Garage looks
That's it for today. See you in the next issue!

Commanders!
In Update 0.15, we have introduced the Tier 10 vehicles to Armored Warfare. Unlocking these awesome war machines however is a process that requires dedication, skill and time. To reward the players for their performance on the long road to Tier 10 as well as to make it a little bit easier, we have prepared a specialMarathon event for the second half of May!
scr1
From the 20th of May (9:00 CEST, 00:01 PDT for the NA server) to the 30th of May (9:00 CEST, 00:01 PDT for the NA server), players will be able to complete the following objectives to earn extra rewards:

  • The rewards can be found within each player’s Inventory (accessible through an icon in upper right corner)

SNEAK PEEK: LOOT SYSTEM

Greetings, Commanders!
As any good Commander and their Crew can tell you, there's nothing quite like feeling like your efforts on the battlefield are being rewarded. With the introduction of the Loot System in Update 0.16, you will receive brand new in-game rewards in the form of Supply Crates, which can be earned through matches, missions, achievements, and more.
scr1
Supply Crates will come in a number of quality levels and have a variety of different bounties, allowing you to collect everything from consumables to Reputation or Credit boosts to unique vehicle decals and paint schemes.
Part of the new Loot System is the induction of Commander and Vehicle Trials. Any Commanders or Vehicles you do not already own will be accessible as Loot awarded to players through Supply Crates. These Commanders and Vehicles will work just like those which you have already purchased or earned through progression, but will be available for only a limited time to give you the opportunity to evaluate these new Commanders' abilities and Vehicles' firepower and test their mettle in the field!
More information about the Loot System will be released soon.
We'll see you on the battlefield!
